Why Choose KJT Law Group for Your Workers’ Comp Case

At KJT Law Group, we’re Practicing the Art of Law, blending skill, experience, and compassion to protect California’s injured workers. With over a decade of experience and more than $100 million recovered for clients, our results speak for themselves.

We’re not a high-volume firm that treats clients like numbers. Our firm is not a mill; we intentionally limit our caseload so every client gets the time, care, and attention they deserve. You’ll work directly with your attorney, not just a case manager, from your first consultation to the moment your case is resolved.

We understand how overwhelming a workplace injury can be: the medical appointments, the confusing paperwork, the calls from insurance adjusters. Our team handles every detail for you:

  • Filing and managing your claim from start to finish
  • Communicating with your employer and insurance company
  • Gathering medical evidence and documentation
  • Negotiating settlements and representing you in hearings

You focus on recovery; we’ll take care of the rest.

At KJT Law Group, no case is too small, and no challenge is too big. In one recent workers’ compensation case, our attorneys secured $2,000,000 for a disabled worker after years of litigation—a testament to our persistence and dedication to justice.

We serve clients in English, Spanish, and Armenian, ensuring every injured worker has a voice. When your livelihood and future are on the line, choose the team that fights—and wins—for you.

Available Workers’ Compensation Benefits

There are several different types of workers’ compensation benefits available in California:

Medical Coverage

Your employer’s insurance company should cover all your reasonable medical care related to your workplace injury or illness.

Disability Benefits

You may be entitled to either temporary or permanent disability benefits, which are a percentage of your wages. For temporary disability benefits (which include temporary partial disability and temporary total disability), it is typically 2/3 of your weekly wages. For permanent disability benefits, the percentage is determined via a formula that considers your age, the extent of your injury or illness, your occupation, and the date you were injured.

Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit

The Supplemental Job Displacement Benefit is a voucher you can use for retraining or skill enhancement. It can cover tuition, books, and more.

Return-to-Work Supplement Program

The Return-to-Work Supplement Program benefit is a one-time additional payment for “employees who experience a loss of earnings that is disproportionate to their permanent disability ratings.”

Death Benefits

If you lost a loved one due to a workplace injury or accident, you may be entitled to reasonable burial expenses and support payments.

The Carson workers’ compensation lawyers at KJT Law Group will ensure you receive all the workers’ compensation benefits you deserve.

Carson Workers’ Compensation FAQs

Can I Use My Own Doctor?

It depends on whether or not your employer has a medical provider network (MPN). If your employer does, you will need to use a doctor within that network of providers. If you predesignated a doctor, you can use your own physician even with an MPN.

Can I Afford a Lawyer?

Yes. Our team takes cases on a contingency basis. You don’t pay us until we win.

How Long Can I Get Benefits?

How long you can receive benefits depends on the nature of your injury and when it occurred. Our team can help you determine when your benefits may stop.

Do I Have to Prove Fault to Recover Benefits?

No. Workers’ compensation is a no-fault system. This means that you don’t need to prove that another person’s negligence caused your injury or illness. It also means that you can recover benefits, even if you contributed to the injury. However, if you purposefully injured yourself or it was the result of intoxication or horseplay, you won’t be eligible for benefits.

Can I Sue My Employer?

In most cases, you cannot sue your employer. Your employer provides workers’ compensation benefits in exchange for you forfeiting your right to take legal action against them. However, if another party caused or contributed to your injury or illness, our Carson personal injury lawyers may be able to hold them liable for the entirety of your damages (e.g., all of your lost wages, your future lost earning capacity, and pain and suffering).
